You can book your shoot whenever you’re ready. Just reach out to my assistant and she will put you on the books. However once we start the process we will have to meet in person or via skype and we will have to work thru the branding questionnaire. Your shoot with me will probably be very different than your previous shoots. I am very focused on developing your brand and really specific about how we can bring all these details together to create an amazing shoot that is going to really work for you. I do not shoot clients without working thru this process first. You will love it!!
As an entrepreneur, solopreneur, ceo or performer you are selling yourself. This is separate yet very connected to the product or service you are offering. Your personal brand is the essence of yourself as a commodity and the face of your business. It falls somewhere between how you view yourself, how others view you and the business or career you are building. Through location choices and wardrobe I will create images that will tell the story of your personal brand. This is a fun and exciting process. A pretty picture is just a pretty picture. A branded image is a different ball of wax. It should tell a story. Your story.
I have a limited amount of slots available each month so it’s best to jump on it as soon as you can. I usually book clients in at least 2-3 weeks in advance so that I will have time to create and style your custom shoot. I generally do not meet with clients before or after that time frame. 2-3 weeks is the magic period of time. It is very important to get a rhythm and flow going that crescendos with the shoot. So in most cases once we start it’s on!!
I always like to style and scout location for all my shoots. My work is an extension of my personal brand and it is very important that every shoot is consistent with the level of work I am putting out in the world all the time. About 2-3 hours for men and 3-4 hours for women. Except in the winter when I shoot in the studio, I work exclusively on location so be prepared for anything. There will definitely be walking between locations, quick stops for cappuccinos and wardrobe changes on the fly and maybe even a cab or train ride or a hike thru the woods. Never a dull moment.
I require all women to book a makeup artist. Having a professional makeup artist working on the shoot can make all the difference. It takes your shoot from the mundane to the magnificent. The business world is a very competitive place. You always want to look your best. Your photo shoot is your time. Whatever you can do to make yourself feel and look extra special is worth it. My makeup artists are amazing. Not only do they stay for the whole shoot to change and tweek your makeup but they all bring something special to the party. No divas here. A nonrefundable payment for makeup is due 7 days prior to the shoot.
My makeup artists will freshen your hair up but we ask you to show up with your hair exactly the way you like to wear it. Most of time there is no place to plug in curling irons etc so we need to keep it simple. Also make sure to get your roots done before the shoot. It is very time consuming to deal with roots in photoshop.
Please don’t without discussing it with me first. In most cases spray tans will often read as too orange. Sometimes having a tan is appropriate. It all depends on whether it is right for your brand.
I prepare for 3 set ups which means 3 different back drops. Most of the time you will have 3 different wardrobe changes to match those backdrops.
I edit all my sessions down to 150-200 images that will be burned to dvd after your retouches are completed. In most cases these will be divided into 1/3 for each set up.
If you would like more setups I can create them for you for an additional charge. Because I work primarily with natural light there is a limited amount of time to get all three set ups in the can. On occasion, if we are in a location where light permits we can add these to your session on the same day once again for an additional charge. However, sometimes we will have to schedule a second day. If we are doing extra portraits for women this would require an additional makeup fee for the 2nd session.
Yes. Sometimes I offer discounts. They are always announced in my newsletter so sign up to stay in the loop. However all returning clients receive $200 off the full current rate of a full shoot.
I also have a 3 payment installment payment plan you can see here if you want to pay for your shoot nice and slow. We would set up our branding session after the 2nd payment is made and the balance would be due 2-3 weeks later on the shoot day.
I will create a personalized Brand focused wardrobe Look Book for the work we will be doing together. You are responsible for gathering and bringing all clothes to your shoot. It is very important for you to very focused on the colors, silhouettes and cuts of the clothing in the ebook I will send you. The closer you stick to the samples the better the results. This may take a few rounds for us to nail it down. But it will make HUGE difference. The more you put in the more you’ll get out. Promise.
9 times out of 10 what looks great hanging in your closet or what you love wearing in daily life may not translate well into photographs as well the other way around. Something that looks not so hot on the hanger may look aaaaamazing in images. It takes a professional to make this very important distinction. Its important for your personal brand to flow with your offerings and your web design. This is very targeted work. Trust me and surrender to the process.
always advise my clients to book 3 weeks in advance for this reason. I also say to get on that Look Book as soon as you receive it because it may take a few rounds of trial and error till we nail it down. We will check in approximately 7 days before the shoot. If you’re not ready I allow one rescheduling on my next available date.
We will have to shoot without a plan. Not my favorite. The images will of course will be good but not what I scouted for and probably not as brandcentric as we discussed. Which means you are not getting your most out of me. It’s like paying for a prix fixe meal and only getting the appetizer. It’s a waste of both of our time and $$. If you’re going to book a shoot with me then you should commit and go for it baby. If you want to reschedule again you will have to pay a second deposit to hold the date. In addition, you will be required to pay a makeup fee if you do not cancel before 7 days prior.
7 days heads up or your deposit will be forfeited. No excuses. Going for a spa weekend or attending your child’s recital is not an excuse for a last minute cancellation. When a client cancels last minute it leaves a gap in my schedule for another client I have turned away. It also leaves my crew high and dry and I always take care of my kids. You will also be responsible for the makeup artists fee if the cancellation occurs less than 7 days before the shoot.
If you cancel atleast 7 days before shoot day I allow one rescheduling. If you need to reschedule an additional time you will have to pay a second deposit to book another date.
I accept cash, check or paypal. A 50% is required to book your branding consultation and shoot date. This happens at the same time. The balance is due 7 days prior to the shoot as well as the makeup artist’s fee.
1 -2 weeks after the shoot.
Great retouching is an art unto itself and are not included. A professional retouch is $65 per image. If you get 4 the 5th is free. I would not use a shot without retouching. I work with great people and all the images you see on my site have been retouched by them.
We retouch all clients in order of request. If you would like 1 or 2 images it is about week. If you would like 10+ it could take up to 2 weeks depending on how many clients need retouches at one time.
I do not offer refunds or reshoots unless there is a technical issue with my camera or data cards. I spend an average of 18-20 hours on a shoot from first contact till the final DVD hits your mailbox. When we meet in person or we work together via skype consult I will let you know during that meeting what I am planning on doing. I will lay out a plan for the 3 set ups. When we both agree it is in stone and all my scouting, styling and storyboard work begins. I never begin work till I know we are on the same page. This way there is no miscommunication on the direction we will be going in or the product I am creating will be. I also do not change direction once the locations have been scouted and the Look Book has been created.
If it rains I will get you in the next available slot. If it is above 92 degrees I will sometimes suggest pushing the shoot so that your makeup stays pretty. Also if you have long hair and the wind is blowing more than 12 mph I will suggest shifting our shoot date for a better result.
Yup. I do. I will travel just about anywhere. My rate stays the same with the addition of travel expenses. I often find that its best to get together a group of 6-8 people to keep the costs down. In that case I and my crew would come for about 10-12 days so we can scout and prep first. I have clients all over the world but my two main hubs are New York and California.
