Many Faces Of Bali
With it’s breathtaking landscape and colorful Hindu ceremonies, Bali is one of the most photogenic destinations in the world. But Bali is so much more than just that. It is a land of vastly different people and cultures. Join world class portrait photographer Timothi Jane Graham as she leads you on a journey through the many faces of Bali. From remote mountain villages to bustling city streets, through serene rice farming villages to mesmerizing otherworldly ceremonies of devotion. In this week long immersion on The Island Of The Gods, Timothi will encourage you to find your own voice as a photographer and create a vision for your work which will culminate in a gallery presentation at the trips closing. With it’s breathtaking panoramic views and simple but chic open air villas, generous gallery space, restaurant, whimsical pool, organic gardens and spa, this is the perfect atmosphere to relax, reflect and create. Bloo Lagoon is an eco friendly resort that was founded with the vision of sustainability and minimal impact in mind. Bloo Lagoon rests in east Bali, home to some of the oldest and most important temples on the island. It is centrally located to Denpasar, Ubud and many other important sites we will be exploring.
Shoot
Join us as we journey, camera in hand, through serene, green fields photographing farmers toiling in the rice and the essence of simple village life, the mysterious and other worldly mountain temples and the traditional people of the north, the stillness and beauty of the people who live and work on the sea, the underbelly of the infamous Kuta Beach and all who dance there. We will also be shooting a powerful Hindu Ceremony as well as live performance. The focus of this journey is not to create the pretty snapshots that we all have seen so many times before but to create a story..a through line for your work that will be cohesive enough to mount as a full piece.. You will have to think on your feet and be aware your vision for your show throughout the journey.
Explore
Bali is the physical embodiment of the word sensorial. ..lush green mountains reaching for the sky…terraced rice fields rolling down to the sea, women and men dressed in brightly colored sarongs, fragrant dishes infused with coconut and lemongrass…jasmine and campa incense perfuming the air…In addition to our shooting schedule we will create time to explore all Bali has to offer…exciting cuisine, art and world renowned performance in Ubud and Padangbai, kick back time on the beach, temple exploration as well as time to check out some of the greatest artisans at work.
Relax
Relax after a long day of shooting with one of many luxurious treatments Salon Bir has to offer. From aromatherapy massages and reflexology, to facials, manicures and pedicures. Bloo Lagoon uses only the purest of natural products and their practitioners are first rate. Bask by Bloo Lagoon’s magical “beach pool”, take a cool dip in the ocean or grab a refreshing drink on the veranda overlooking the sea. There will be plenty of free time to reflect and process your journey.
Create
On this 8 day journey we will be shooting in many different settings. You will have a chance to craft that journey into your own gallery show that you will print and mount which will be presented on the final day of the trip. We will celebrate with a closing feast complete with Gamelan Orchestra.
